Meet Catherine

Catherine feels most herself amongst the quiet serenity that only nature can offer. From the vast beauty in mountain ranges to the ethereal joy in a wildflower, nature has provided Catherine with the same hope and inspiration she aspires to bring to the room as a therapist. The blue iris encompasses Catherine’s expectations for her work as it symbolizes creativity, belief, and faith in happiness. She hopes to provide a space where individuals can safely reconcile the obstacles and challenges of life with its beauty.

Catherine graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia. She received her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Graduate Certificate in Trauma Therapy from Richmont Graduate University. Catherine has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families in community-based and school-based settings. Catherine now works in private practice with adolescents and adults who need support navigating life transitions, family conflict, grief, depression, anxiety, and PTSD.

Catherine utilizes individual talk therapy, art therapy, and group and family interventions to support the growth and healing of her clients. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and uses this evidence-based practice when working with trauma.

Catherine also uses Emotion Focused Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy regularly in her work. In her free time, Catherine enjoys mountain biking, skiing, and spending time with her two dogs, Lewis and Clark.

Meet Brooke

Brooke grew up on Saint Simons Island, GA where she played in the Marshes and climbed Oak trees. In your younger years, playing and communing with others was a natural gifting of Brooke’s. Throughout her life, she has easily jumped into others stories while providing a gentle open heart. Brooke has discovered her passion to enter into other people’s stories through counseling and walk with them toward healing, empowerment, and transformation.
Brooke graduated from Liberty University with a degree in Psychology. She received her masters degree from Richmont Graduate University with a certificate in Trauma therapy. Brooke works with children, adolescents, and adults. Brooke has been working in private practice where she helps people work through life transitions, anxiety, depression, self-worth, and attachment wounds.
During her time in graduate school, Brooke had the opportunity to take specialized classes related to complex trauma. She learned how to work with individuals using evidence-based research to intervene with children and adults addressing the roots of pain. Brooke uses tools to help provide coping skills, address attachment issues, and increase emotional regulation.
Brooke believes every story is unique and asks me to be present with each individual in front of me. With this belief, she am able to show up and offer both direct and empathetic communication as needed. Something that is unique to her, is her enjoyment of using illustrations from nature. When thinking about anxiety, change, and grief, she likes to remind people that no feeling is final and come and go like the waves. Utilizing these metaphors, Brook is able to put into motion these feelings and allowing my client to ride the waves and leave feeling more grounded than when they came. I believe that you are the keeper of your own story, the expert on yourself or your child. In our time together, I get to learn your story, provide strategic tools to help you meet your personalized goals. I am grateful to be a piece in the puzzle for your healing journey. I also incorporate play therapy in Watkinsville as a way to help children engage with and process their emotions in a creative and supportive environment. Brooke brings her black lab dog, Simon, in for sessions when requested! Brooke’s free time consists of playing outdoor sports, spending time with her nephews, eating yummy Athens food with her husband, and talking walks with friends.
